Now that we’ve taken care of all their essential needs, like food, water, safe place to hang out, our cats have more time on their paws than they know what to do with.  After waking at daybreak, jumping through the cat flap for a sniff-of-the-air, quick wander, pee and a pooh, it’ll be time for breakfast, after which, there’s not much left to do that can’t wait while he or she takes a knap!

Thus begins the search for a comfy spot.  The sofa or an armchair are good options; your bed is always good, somewhere near a radiator is choice in winter, or if feeling a little nervous, under anyone’s bed will do.

Of course, if you’ve left your little black dress on the bed, or your dinner jacket on the sofa, these will make extra special places to doze away the morning.

So to avoid cat hair everywhere, providing your cat with a comfy basket all of their own could save you hours of vacuuming and brushing!

I’ve lost count of the baskets I’ve bought my cats over the years.  From wicker baskets, soft purpose-made top of the range delux offerings most cat owners would walk through hail and snow to get their hands on, all for the feline recipient to take one sniff and say ‘not likely – you sleep in it if it’s so comfy!’

Next thing you know, they’re quite happy for one quick sleep in a cardboard box from Amazon!   Only once though!  I’ve left old boxes lying around the house for weeks trying to tempt my feline friend to pleasant slumbers, all to no avail.

I have sussed out that cats generally don’t like square boxes much. A round basket is preferred.  I’m not convinced about nylon or polyester baskets either, as I think the static electricity they can generate might interfere with their fur.
